International Sculpture

The reason for having the two categories of public
art and international sculpture is because the approaches
to the photographs have been rather different.
International sculpture photographs shown here
are supposed to be an exploration of the intent
of the piece, less to do with any public awareness
that it might have

Stowe Gardens

One of the Saxon Deities at Stowe Landscape Gardens copied
after the sale of the 1727 Rysbrack originals in 1921. This is
Tiw, God of War and Combat and the original namesake for
Tuesday. It appears that since this photograph of delicious
and thick lichen cover was taken, all of the Saxon deities have
been cleaned, not the best idea for the longevity of these copies.
The original Tiw from Stowe is at Anglesey Abbey, but looks even
more forlorn, for he has no spear. He has less foliose lichen cover
than the Stowe copy at the time of this photograph
