Public Open Space

Landscape architects and garden designers work on similar
projects , although there can be considerable blurring.
The simplistic view is that garden designers work primarily
on spaces that are private, whereas landscape
architects tend to work on places and spaces viewed
or used by the wider public. The needs and demands
on the spaces are different.

Of course this is far too simplistic, but can be a guide

Public art in public open space is often a gentle presence,
sometimes where it is dominant it is some King or General,
but in this public space in Cartagena in Spain the monument
to the victims of terrorism by Victor Ochoa is a significant
presence and triggers a large range of emotions depending
on the mood of the day
