Gazetteers

These photographs are interesting to take in a different
way, for the need is to explore the reasons for why a
feature is to be included in a list or gazetteer and to
record key features. Getting too clever about how
the photograph is taken can be counter-productive
and mask the reason the photograph is needed

Gravesend caponier

The Riverside Leisure Area at Gravesend has many defensive
features that still remain from when the New Tavern Fort was
an important site for the defences on the Thames. This caponier
dates to the late eighteenth century, some time before General
Gordon took command of the fort and initiated extensive works
