Gazetteers

These photographs are interesting to take in a different
way, for the need is to explore the reasons for why a
feature is to be included in a list or gazetteer and to
record key features. Getting too clever about how
the photograph is taken can be counter-productive
and mask the reason the photograph is needed

Hermitage steps, Elizabeth Castle

The steps up to the Hermitage on Elizabeth Castle, Jersey are
made of the same rock under the steps as on the return, but
the lichen cover is startlingly different, with significantly increased
cover of Caloplaca species with some Xanthoria species. This is
almost certainly as a result of the more exposed steps and wave
deposits cascading down and over the edge
